 Article II. BUILDING CODE

  § 8-17. Building codes adopted.

  • (a)

    The following codes are hereby adopted and shall be considered the building codes for the city:

    1.

    The International Building Code, 2009 Edition, Chapters 2-29, 31-34, inclusive;

    2.

    Appendix C, Group U-Agricultural Buildings; Appendix E, Supplemental Accessibility Requirements; Appendix F, Rodent Proofing; Appendix G, Flood Resistant Construction; Appendix I, Patio Covers and Appendix J, Grading, of the International Building Code, 2009 Edition;

    3.

    The International Energy Conservation Code, 2009 Edition.

    (b)

    The following chapters are specifically excluded and shall not be considered as part of the building code for the city:

    1.

    Appendix Chapters A, B, H, K1-K13 of the International Building Code, 2009 Edition.

    (c)

    The 2009 International Residential Code shall apply to the construction, alteration, enlargement, replacement or repair of detached one- and two-family dwellings and their accessory structures, and any new construction required as a result of moving a one- or two-family dwelling. The 2009 International Building Code shall apply to the construction, alteration, enlargement, replacement or repair of all other buildings and structures, and any new construction required as a result of moving any other building.

    (d)

    Sections of these codes that are modified, amended or deleted elsewhere in this article. Three copies of the International Building Code, 2009 Edition, the International Residential Code, 2009 Edition, and the International Energy Conservation Code, 2009 Edition, are to be retained on file with the Permits and Inspections Department and shall there remain for public use and inspection. These codes shall be in effect within the limits of the city and its two-mile zoning jurisdiction.
