§ 6-55. Purchase of unclaimed animal.

  • Any animal not reclaimed by its owner within five days shall become the property of the local government authority, or humane society, and shall be placed for adoption in a suitable home or humanely destroyed. Any impounded animal, which is unlicensed and unclaimed, may be purchased at the end of a five-day incarceration period. The purchaser shall pay fees as determined by the licensing authority. The purchase fee shall be credited to the licensing authority.
