§ 30-141. Same—Surcharge for operation and maintenance.

Latest version.
  • The surcharge for operation and maintenance for wastewater and with more than 225 mg/l of BOD and 200 mg/l of suspended solids shall be as follows:

    The surcharge formula:

    SC = [Rp (Pi - Pn) + Rs (Si - Sn) + Rx
    (Xi - Xn) × 8.34 × V

    as described would be used to determine this "extra charge" based upon laboratory analysis of the wastewater as selected time periods to be determined for each industry involved.

    Where SC = Surcharge, in dollars

    Rp = Unit BOD cost of treating normal sewage, $0.1449 per pound

    Pi = BOD in the industrial waste, ppm

    Pn = BOD in normal sewage, ppm (225)

    Rs = Unit suspended solids cost of treating normal sewage, $0.1475 per pound

    Si = Suspended solids in the industrial waste, ppm

    Sn = Suspended solids in normal sewage, ppm (200)

    Rx = Unit cost of treating any additional substance in the industrial waste, in dollars per pound

    Xi = Substance requiring additional treatment in the industrial waste, ppm

    Xn = Substance requiring additional treatment in normal sewage, ppm

    8.34 = lb/million gallon-mg/l

    V = Wastewater volume, million gallon
