§ 2-271. Compensation, benefits and equipment for members of the reserve force.

  • (1)

    Each member of the reserve force shall be paid at a minimum rate of $1.00 per year. The city council may provide, from time to time, for additional monetary assistance for the purchase and maintenance of equipment (hereinafter defined in subsection (4) of this section) used by the members of the reserve force.

    (2)

    The city council shall provide for hospital and medical assistance to the members of the reserve force who sustain injury in the course of performing official duties in accordance with this chapter 2, article VI of the Bellevue City Code. Such benefits shall be provided in the same manner as those benefits provided for fulltime police officers.

    (3)

    Nothing in the Bellevue City Code shall be construed to authorize or permit a member of the reserve force to become eligible for participation in any pension fund or retirement fund or system created by the laws of the State of Nebraska to which a fulltime police officer is privy or may become a party.

    (4)

    Uniforms, shoes, badges and other ancillary equipment to be determined by the chief of police and used by a member of the reserve force (collectively, the equipment) shall be purchased by the city and the equipment shall remain the property of the city. Upon separation from the reserve force, the member separated shall return all of the equipment that has been entrusted to him/her to the chief of police.
