§ 18-3. Duty of police department to direct traffic, etc.

  • The police department, including all regular and special policemen, shall exercise all powers and duties with relation to the management of street traffic and direct, control, stop, restrict and regulate and, when necessary, temporarily divert or exclude, in the interest of public safety, health and convenience, the movement of pedestrians, animals and vehicular traffic of every kind, in streets, parks and on bridges, in the city.
