§ 14-1. Board of health—Established; composition; purpose.

  • For the purpose of promoting and preserving the health of the city and the inhabitants thereof, and enforcing such rules and regulations relative thereto as may be enacted or adopted, there is established a board of health, consisting of the mayor, who shall be chairman, a physician, who shall be medical adviser, the chief of police, who shall be secretary and quarantine officer, the president of the council and one other member; appointed by the mayor and council.
